It was an interesting call. David Wilson, Editor of The United Church Observer, calling to invite me to sit down with Connie denBok and have a recorded conversation. Connie is also a United Church minister but, unlike me, she doesn’t believe the word god should be left out of church. She hasn’t had a lot of nice things to say about the work I do. I say a lot about the kind of work she does and I don’t imagine she thinks much of it is nice either. But it’s clear.
Here’s our conversation. What do you think? Is it possible to get a clear picture of what each of us believes, or do the details get lost in the interaction? Let me know what you think.
Really interesting how much you two ministers do share. Good questions too. I think that people will gravitate to the ministerial care that best meets their individual needs and comfort zones. At least, that’s what I am doing.
This shoe fits for me!
Thanks, Wendy! You’ve really hit the most important element of the work we do at West Hill: creating a place for those who otherwise would not have a place to go.
