ideacity 2012

Every June in Toronto, Moses Znaimer assembles 50 or so of what he calls "the world’s top thinkers and doers for three days of immersion in a community of ideas." He's done it for twelve years running, so this next outing is his Bar Mitzvah edition. Its called ideacity, and has a reputation as Canada’s premiere “Meeting of the Minds”.

The idea is to gather "speakers and performers, mavericks, big names, new names, unusual suspects and hidden treasures"; and have them give it their all in a 17-minute talk or performance, on stage, in front of an audience of like-minded ideacitizens. Over fifty presenters over the course of three days. It’s an unexpected combination of elements that never fails to exceed the sum of its parts.

I am delighted to have been invited to be part of this year's "God pod", one of a gathering of individuals who look at the concepts of god, religion, and philosophy. It's going to be an exciting opportunity to engage with a whole new group of people and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Ideacity is scheduled for June 13 - 15, 2012. Check back to see when the God pod takes place if that's your interest but don't miss out on the rest of the intersting topics and the phenomenal speakers who will address them in their 17 minute time slot. It will be idea packed and an event that will get you thinking!

Amen: What Prayer Can Mean in a World Beyond Belief

The community at West Hill United, which has been such an integral part of the work in which I'm engaged, is welcoming the birth of Amen: What Prayer Can Mean in a World Beyond Belief during its Sunday service and beyond into the sharing of great refreshments on April 1, 2012. Copies of the book will be available for purchase following the service and, of course, I'll have a pen in my hand to personalize yours!

If you'd like to join us but don't consider yourself a member of West Hill, that's just fine; the first Sunday of every month is our Visitors' and Travellers' Sunday, celebrated to welcome the many who travel distances to share in our community, who come to check us out, or who just share in the meal that follows. So please do join us if you're in town!

Amen is available at booksellers across Canada.Click on the image and you'll be taken to the HarperCollins page from where you can order the book online through Chapters or Amazon, or, if you prefer, use their link to find a local online bookseller near you.
